More supplier quotes do not necessarily mean better energy procurement.

A long comparison table can look reassuring, but value comes from the quality and independence of the process—not simply the number of prices collected.

Before going to market, the important work includes:

• Validating consumption data
• Choosing the right contract structure
• Setting clear commercial requirements
• Selecting suppliers suited to the business
• Comparing every offer on a genuinely like-for-like basis

Independence matters too. Recommendations should be based on what is best for the client—not influenced by which supplier offers the broker the most attractive commission or commercial terms.

Ten poorly structured quotes can create more confusion than three well-managed ones.

Good procurement is not about creating the biggest spreadsheet. It is about creating the clearest, most impartial decision.

If your next tender needs independent scrutiny as well as competition, I’m always happy to offer a second opinion.
